Listener Reviews

One of My Favorite Podcast Appearances
Participating in Truth Be Told with Dave Thompson was by far one of my favorite podcast appearances. Dave created such a thoughtful and comfortable space to discuss the very serious and often difficult realities surrounding wrongful convictions, while also making these complex issues accessible and engaging for listeners. What stood out most was his ability to find the intersection between topics that may seem completely unrelated at first glance — like poker and the criminal legal system — and use those connections to break down larger conversations about strategy, decision-making, human behavior, and injustice in a way that felt both natural and impactful.I truly appreciated the depth of the conversation, the care behind the questions, and the opportunity to share both my professional experiences and personal perspectives. I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of it and would absolutely look forward to a follow-up episode in the future.
Building rapport
Fantastic interview.
Barry Black
What a fascinating life this man has had! I really enjoyed hearing all Mr. Black has been through, and frankly, I am surprised that he doesn’t seem hardened by his experiences. He obviously has a kind demeanor in spite of all the tragedy and wrongdoing he has witnessed in his many careers.
Loved My Conversation
Communication is at the center of every interaction with another person and effective communication should be the priority.
Engaging and Meaningful
Truth Be Told is an outstanding podcast that delivers engaging and meaningful conversations every time. Dave, the host, is incredibly talented, and an excellent moderator who never misses a beat. He asks smart questions, keeps the dialogue flowing effortlessly, and brings out the very best in every guest. The episodes are not only fascinating but consistently educational, offering insights that stay with you long after you’ve finished listening.
Inside The Story of a Wrongful Conviction with Jeffrey Deskovic and Hia Wertz
The host was incredibly prepared- the amount of research was obvious. The pre-interview meeting was great. I was very comfortable being interviewed. The host was able to integrate documentary clips with relevant questions, while making sure that both myself and Jia were engaged throughout by varying the questions.I wish all hosts were like that.
Chocked full of information and interest
Dave brings in some excellent guests and has a fine listening ear to drive the discussion to motivate guests to share some great information and anecdotes. This podcast is on my short list of ones to catch every episode.
